Art is everywhere. It can be the border along your bedroom wall , the pictures on the train or bus you take , even the design on your metro card. Every individual has their own opinion on art and what makes it good or bad.Personally , I think "good art" is the type that opens your soul and mind , it reaches out to you. It can alter your mood , remind you of a certain memory/person/or place. It can have a meaning behind it from the artist or you can find your own meaning. It keeps you thinking. Good art can make you more inspired too.
"Bad art" to me is art that doesn't captivate me. It's the type of art that I wouldn't acknowledge at a muesum. I think some people may say bad art can make you feel gloomy or upset , but that's not true. Good art makes you feel something whether it's good or bad. If I see no purpose to the art work , I would consider that bad. Any art that doesn't make you feel something , or catch your eye isn't that good. Also, art that isn't unique is considered bad to me. When it comes to art I think standing out is very important. Copying someones idea is bad. In an artwork I want to see originality. I want to see that persons personality in the work , or even their mood at the time instilled in the work. I don't want to see a "carbon copy" when it comes to art...
Alley By The Lake by Leonid Afremov
This is an example of GOOD ART. It's good because , it makes me feel something , it changes my mood. When I see this I think of a Fall rainy night , spent with someone special. It makes me think I'm at Kisseana Park walking around at night with my boyfriend. This picture is soothing too. The colors Afremov used help to do so.
Aim 2 by Lloyd Graham
This is an example of BAD ART. First of all , I can't find the reason for the making of this work. I don't see the meaning to it and I can't tell what the artist is trying to depict. Also the solid background makes it even harder for me to tell what's going on in the work. It shows no emotion. It doesn't captivate my eye. I think if Graham showed more blatant details in the work , I might be able to find the meaning of it..
In conclusion , art is too vague to be described in any definition. Art is different to everyone. Everyone has a different perspective or opinion. Only you can justify what makes art good or bad...
